The Association of Learning Providers (ALP) and the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) came together to commission a study from Beyond Standards on the remaining Group Training Associations (GTAs). GTAs were establsihed in the 1960s as co-operative training groups producing technical apprentices for employers. Beyond Standards found 40 remaining GTAs representing some 15,000 employees and with a yearly turnover of nearly £100 million. On our recommendation, they have formed a national association to promote their interests and share good practice, GTA England; which is now chaired by a Beyond Standards director.
